Yes you do need to get the early SVT gauges. The later ones require a lot more work to get them to function with earlier cars. I believe that there were also 3 different versions of the SVT cluster for '98 cars. The E0 having 2 different versions with differences in how the speedo connects to the circuit board....






That would make sense because some people have reported problems installing a E0 cluster into there Pre-98 when for other people it works perfectly.
