You are referring to a breed that was traditionally bred for dog fighting. They are absolutely more aggressive than a Cocker Spaniel!

Yes they are bred for dog fighting. Not because of their aggressiveness but because of the way they are built. ANY dog can be MADE aggressive.

So you've only encountered mean pitbulls, don't apply that to every single one. Though it does make sense you would encounter more aggressive pitbulls than other dogs, because that's how many people raise them.

So you are correct, many pitbulls are more aggressive than other dogs. BUT are they naturally more aggressive? NO. They are raised that way. It's people like your neighbors that make them that way. They would do that to any dog they own. A properly raised pitbull is a great, non-aggressive dog.
