You are referring to a breed that was traditionally bred for dog fighting. They are absolutely more aggressive than a Cocker Spaniel!

I'm guessing your problem is you just have not met a good pitbull so you apply that to all pitbulls. Pitbulls have been some of the nicest dogs I have encountered. I've also been around one rottweiler and it was a great dog. Just hard to play with it because it slobbered so much on everything. The meanest dogs I've been around were dachshunds. Granted they weren't big enough to do damage to me, they certainly tried.

Every Pit I have ever encountered (and there are more than just my neighbor's dogs) have been more aggressive than your average mutt. HOWEVER, I had a friend once that had a Pit Chihuahua (I sh!t you not). His name was Festus. He was about twice as large as a typical Chihuahua, barrel chested like a Pit (brindled too), and had the little bug-eyed Chihuahua head. THAT was one cool dog! (Either his daddy was one ballsy little Chihuahua, or his mother was one very violated one!)

As far as Rotts go, I have yet to meet a mean one. And before you say it, yes, I know mean ones are out there. I had a large one scare the bejesus out of me during a furniture delivery once (thought I was dead meat!) but when the owner got home (didn't know he wasn't there when I went to the door) and introduced us to the dog, he was just a big slobbering goof-ball.
