I used to date this girl that had a pit bull. It was thee nicest dog ever! All it wanted was attention (people to pet her), I miss that dog.

its because of the stereotypes being thrown out there. there are dogs out there that are naturally more vicious than a pit bull...but you never hear about them - because it won't feed the media frenzy.

Pitbulls are less agressive that many other common dog breeds. The problem is owners train them to be mean and pitbulls do have the cabability to kill IF trained to.

Statistically, Pit Bulls, Rotweilers Dobermans have more "incidents" of aggressive behavior than other breeds. That is why most homeowners insurance requires a separate rider if you own one of these breeds. That being said, they are some of the sweetest dogs I have ever found. My wife had a Pit before we got married and he was a sweet heart (but he was a helluva lot more protective of her that our Yellow Lab).

There are actually NO good statiscs for dog bites by breed as gross physical characteriscs are the only way to identify most breeds of dogs. Even UKC/AKC experts have problems identifying the differences between a great many APBTs and Staffordshire Terrier breeds. What little numbers DO exist rarely back up the assertion that APBTs, ST, Rotts and Dobies "have more incidents" of aggressive behavior. Over the last 30 years, very media frenzies have been whipped up and the normally statisics-bound insurance industry has stupidly followed the media inspired hate mongering.
Your own comment is laced with incosistencies. Once second you say that they are more likely to have "incidents" and the next you said they are some of the sweetest dogs you ever met...which is it?
