More impressed seeing a modified street car tear it up. Of course a shifter kart etc is going to tear it up w/ low weight and excellent handling.

Oh look, some people showed up to bench race the AM car. It's interesting that this thread was up for four days until Todd decided to make a crack, and now everyone wants to play. Keep the jaded attitudes in CI. It's ironic that this is the same crew that defended the Veyron as amazing when others pulled the same thing with that car. Some guy built a sick car (which is nothing like a kart at all) and can drive it. If any of your hopped in that machine, and gave that guy the keys to your 'tour, he'd whoop you.

I wasn't quite understanding what was going on in this thread. But I guess I get it now. Like phil said, the driver can out drive you and the car he built is better than anything you can wet dream about. See it in action; it's awesome. I don't understand some of the comments here. It's an autox vehicle, it and the driver kick butt,,, so are some of ya'll just mad you don't have the driving skills nor the ability to build that caliber of a vehicle?

WTH? It wasn't a crack. It was my opinion. This is the first time I saw the post. I have no idea why your post is filled with anger.

Your post was pointless. You stated that you'd rather see a street car run because it's slower than a shifter kart. So what?

Certainly did not. It's more impressive than a purpose built shifter kart. That some kid took his daily driver and turned it into a great handling AutoX car. Pretty hard not to suck at driving that kart.

"It's more impressive than a purpose built shifter kart. " It's not even close to a shifter kart. Shifter karts have no suspension, relatively low power, no downforce, and are bought, not made. "Pretty hard not to suck at driving that kart. " AM cars are rediculously hard to drive. Again: if that guy drove your Contour, and you drove that beast, he would win. Plus, it's much harder to make something like that handle well than a street car. With my car I have to worry about alignment, spring rates, swaybar, and damping. He has way, way more to deal with: there's no design factor that he didn't have to engineer carefully to make it as fast as possible.

I doubt that 100%. You haven't seen me drive. You'll never change my mind so you can stop. That thing is a hell of a lot easier to get around the cones than a car ever will.

Some numbers for you all from http://www.brr-scca.org/CommonwealthGames2006.html
Me:
Sat raw: 52.046
Sat PAX: 43.630
Sun raw: 50.126
Sun PAX: 42.006
Todd Bowland:
Sat raw: 39.587
Sun raw: 37.582
That's ownership.
He was Fastest time PAX with an index of 1.000. Think about that. It isn't a cart, it has a real suspension (fancy custom Konis), Hoosier slicks, a 3 cylinder Arctic Cat snowmobile engine, and so much downforce that it has to be trailered in a closed trailer. This is the car that the AM PAX is based on.
Only one car was under four seconds back PAXwise from Todd, and he has the cush STS PAX and is in the spec STS car and does national events.

Agreed. No trash-talking is needed here. If you guys want to put your numbers where your mouth is, show some results comparing you to established National level drivers and we'll have something to go on. If not, let it go.

Phil, What they were saying is that its cooler to see a normal transportation vehicle be fast then a vehicle that was purpose built with auto-cross in mind. I mean, you yourself said it had to be trailered in a closed trailer, so its not streetable. I also like the cars that are able to drive to the track, put down low quarter miles then drive home. Yes that car has all out speed, but thats not all there is to me.

I get that, that's the way I feel about drag cars.
But if you haven't seen this thing go around an autox course, you really can't comment. It's nothing like a shifter kart. The shifter karts are sorta boring, the shark is nothing close to that. And the drivers' skills in the shark are awesome. No matter what ANY of us on here would like to pretend, the bowlands can out drive you. The comment saying they could outdrive you in your car and you in the shark MAY be a stretch, but simply put it's fun to watch them drive.

You do realize there are Former Track Instructors and former autoX champions and open track champions on this website right Kremit.
But ohh i forgot you have a SVT now with R compound tires soo you must be a super driver!
I'd put money on I can name 5 people in SEMI that can outdrive you any day of the week.

WTF is your problem?
Todras asked me and I replied that how good or bad of a driver doesn't have anything to do with anything.
When did this become a you vs. me thing?
I said Bowland will outdrive all of us on here. That includes me.
Understand?
By the way, I HOPE most of ya'll can out drive me. I ain't but 20 and really ain't got much driving in yet. With that said, I probably drive a lot better than you assume.

I have seen that A-Mod beast run before and it made me giggle like a schoolgirl watching it run. I admire it for completely different reasons than I admire somebody that can drive a everyday car well. As for how I did against him here is my results against George Bowland. I was about 3 seconds behind him in PAX at that event in my MS protege (All stock except for RA1's for tires) http://www.tidewatersportscarclub.com/results/2005/10-05.htmlIf you want to see how I do against national champions in my class you can look at the ProSolo results on the SCCA website for Peru and D.C. this year. Both where I was a little over a second behind Andy Hollis in STS2.
