This is just plain ludicrous! I know there was a post about this before however, for the second time in a row record profits for Exxon. Slice it anyway you want, call it Capitalism, say it isn't their fault, we're being gouged directly by Big Oil, period. I wish I could just STOP buying gas....

Get someone in office who doesn't have their pockets in the oil industry and problem solved...LOL Seriously though...everytime i see that i wonder what the heck happened to this country. They find nothing wrong with all the record profits and bonuses for the execs, but yet the price continues to climb...I smell BS

"But the industry says that oil prices fluctuate widely over time and that, in the long run, it's actually less profitable than a number of other industries."
Of course they say that, and of course it isn't true. The numbers don't lie.
With OPEC and the oil companies, each gallon of gas is overpriced by atleast $1.
It would be awesome if someone found some perfect alternative to oil and killed the oil companies and opec. I know it won't happen, but it'd be cool.

No, nothing about what you said. Just saying this thread will start alot of debate as anything about gas prices on here always does.
It's a never ending debate.
The media makes it seem like the oil companies have huge profits, but then others say it's not profit for many other reasons. I try to stay out of these threads, and just sit back and read what everyone has to say. I know little to nothing about these oil companies to get involved and comment about it.

Meh...if you don't like it, then stop buying gas. No demand = lower prices. That's how capitalism works. Supply and demand. If you were selling a widget that everyone wanted, would you want the government telling you how much you could sell them for? Would they have the right to dictate that to you?
Rather than complain every week when gas goes up another 15 cents, do something about it. Buy a motorcycle, ride a bike. Exxon isn't holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy gas. Now, don't go off saying I don't know how bad it hurts to fill up a big tank. I have a pickup that currently costs $110 to fill from empty, a cherry picker that costs about $90, and a crane that costs about $150. I know it hurts, but I adjust my driving habits to maximize my fill-ups. Certain vehicles stay parked most of the time, only to be used when absolutely necessary.
Long story short: stop complaining and do something to change your situation if you don't like it now. It's only going to get worse.

Unfortunately, Exxon-Mobil is on the beneficiary side of the baseless paranoia the traders have used to run up the commodities pricing beyond any sort of logical reason. The buyer is on the losing side.
Unfortunately, not buying gas is not a feasible option.
