If you get the sentra and it doesn't already have a header on it, then get one right away. Don't rev high until you do get one. The catalytic converter breaks up and gets sucked back into the engine and kills it. May also want to put some loctite on and retorque the screws on the intake butterflies. They tend to come loose.
I see there was a recall on the precat, but on the Nissan Forums, they say to do the same as you mentioned anyway.
Do you know anything about the engine failures? Seems to be the precats failing is the only major issue... Installing a header on a 4 cylinder will be cake after putting headers on the SVT!
