Personally, I'd be looking at a 60's era Alfa Romeo. GTVs are the coolest!

I hear ya, and I'd prefer a Twin Turbo. I would live with a NA one, though, as a cool cruiser.

Mmmmm, Porsche 968! Not many people have them (I think only like 2,400 in the US now) but you can find them on e-bay sometimes. Perfect 50/50 weight distribution, a not too anemic 4 cylinder, excellent suspension, porsche quality, and some were cabriolets!

Whatever you choose, good luck.

Oh no it's not... you need to learn young one...

On topic... if you want a convertible, every queen and princess wannabe has a Miata. Accomodations are also tight if you're big. The newest ones are the only ones I can fit in. However, it's hard to pick much else. I admit I dug old and went with an RX-7, but power is not a strong suit if you care on that. Condition is worth paying for. I'd take an FD RX-7 over a 1990's Z. They have gotten a bad rap and kept stock or built right, they are as reliable as anything.

Porsche 914?

If I was in your shoes I use the 11k to get a nice DD and sell the escorts for a "fun" car. IMO, if you are going to spend most of the year driving one car, why wouldn't you want it to be the nice one?
