I'm applying for a position in the legal field and need to submit an "unedited writing sample". My best writing sample, is one I submitted for publication awhile ago. It was good but not perfect. I made some changes after publication to clarify a few things.

My question is, can I submit my edited sample as an "unedited wrting sample"? Does "unedited" mean "unedited by someone else" or literally "unedited"?

after doing some googling on the subject, I have a feeling that your self-edits aren't what they mean by edited.
I think they mean not edited by someone else.

Yeah, "unedited" means "not edited by someone else." I've worked in the legal publishing field and I hade a question - how is it that something you had published wasn't edited at all? What was it published in?

In answer to your question, my writing sample - a memorandum - wasn't so much published as it was filed and cited.

I just preferred not to go into unnecessary detail.
