u should really shift at 2500 to 3000 normal driving because a low rpm shift can really hurt a motor (driving). running a low rpm can damage ur motor out fast

How? Because when I need to accelerate fast I do, but if there is nobdy behind me, i accelerate at my own speed. What are the damaging affects?
Thanks.

really there is none... The way I see it, if you drive an ATX and feather the gas pedal, and it shifts at 1900 RPM's then I see nothing wrong with doing it in a car with a stick. my dad always did that with his cars, and none of the cars he ever owned ever had serious mechanical difficulties, in fact, I think the worst thing to happen to one of his cars was a water pump. If there was very light traffic I would find myself shifting at 2000-2200 RPMS all of the time. Nothing wrong with it at all. I think what he means is it CAN be bad for the motor/trannie, if you are always horsing the gas pedal at low RPM's take for example, taking a low speed turn, leaving the car in 3rd, then punching the gas pedal... Thats a no no, if you are going to do that, mide as well downshift.
