It is all semantics. The terms "import" and "domestic" do not have the same meaning that they did fifteen years ago. You would have to have an agreement as to the definition of "domestic" before you can debate the issue thoroughly. Should you base it on the percentage of a foreign car company that a domestic company owns? Should it be where the profits ultimately go? Or should it be where the car is assembled and shipped from? There are just too many variables today to throw out "import" or "domestic" without some set definition that everyone agrees on.
