You are about to go out for the evening, you push the unlock button to your car, THEN you hear tires screeching to a stop, a guy jumps out of a car, and begins yelling at a 5 year old kid?

Well that happened to me and has me a bit distorted and disgusted. I was about to go out and this guy began swearing and yelling at this little 5 year old kid! Appearently the kid pushed his kid down... But that is NOT the mature way to handle it... He was threatening the kid's life too!! "Stay the f--- away from my kid! if you EVER come near him again, and ITS OVER!" It was all verbal, and I honestly do not care for children, but [censored]! I didnt know what to say, I wanted to tell him to stfu and leave the damn kid alone and act mature and talk to the kid's parents instead of him! I didn't get his license plates, but as soon as he got in his car (Late model Silver chevy monte carlo..) I was holding my cell phone in about to dial 911, but still. What if this becomes an ongoing problem? He clearly saw me... What if thinks I ratted him out and he begins to vandalize? The [censored] could have been mature and called the police at least to have them as a median, or goto the kid's house. Not threaten him and swear at him... I hate the little brats too, but still! Kids are kids, and they let stuff fly by them, and in 2/3 weeks they might be good friends again... I tried seeing where the guy lives, but I couldnt find his car late at night, probaly garaged... just thought I'd rant cus [censored].... that is tough

I woulda talked to him about it, and threatened him with police calls. discipline is for parents to handle, and if they don't, he could've called someone. you don't treat little kids like that, esp if they aren't YOU'RE kids

a real man would have jumped right in there and intervened! there is no way in hell id let some adult yell at a kid like that! if he would have tried to talk sh*t to me, i would have threatened his ass with calling the cops! he could easily have been arrested for assault and/or possibly child abuse.

not to say youre not a real man or anything. talk is cheap and for all i know this was some psycho ex-con or something. a call to the police afterwards (with license plate #) would be good. or even tell the parents of the kid and let them handle it.

I'd probably cower in fear first , then maybe go talk to the kid after the guy left. Help the kid and his parents report that guy for threatening physical harm.
I'd in no way have the balls to talk to the guy. If he's yelling at a 5 year old, he's not going to stand to reason with an adult in that state.
Hitting him is sending the wrong message to the kid, so that's a big no, as far as I see it.

I'd also be hesitant to call the police since I'd feel like I didn't know enough about the whole situation to be able to report it accurately.

I agree with French, I would have talked to the kid after to see if he was alright and then probably his parents. If his parents have had previous problems with this dude then you could serve as a wittness for them to take further action if necessary.

I don't agree with people saying a "real man" this or that BS. 99% of people would have been stunned with shock before they could react in which the situation would probably be over and done with.
