Easy peazy. Jack up car, remove wheel, remove axle nut, remove pinch bolt for balljoint, grab a prybar and push the LCA down so the BJ pops out of the knuckle, grab a slide hammer and yank the axle out. Luckily it's not the driver side so you don't need new trans fluid.

or is it separate on the contour?

The inter. shaft is like $130 from Jenkins too. Pricey little thing. Goonz will have an axle on the way today.
