At least they know what one is. Down here in Orlando, I would not be suprised if they didn't know what it was. The auto part stores here are the most useless wastes of space there is!! Went to Miami for the weekend and they were better, but still realitavley useless!!! I was amazed at how helpless and not knowledgeable by any means with cars at all they are!!! I could have gotten better service from a giraffe. It would probally know more too!

I was thinking, "Okay Mark, it's not that bad, take it easy on the guy." That was until I read this sentence;
"I was amazed at how helpless and not knowledgeable by any means with cars at all they are!!!"

I have no clue what your [censored] was, but since I worked in the autoparts biz, I know the 90% of the dipshits behind the counter are absolutely useless. If it isn't in the computer, they don't have it and can't get it. Hell, I had to teach a kid how to use a book at my local AAP.

YOU need to to armed with a few things when you go into ANY autoparts store 1) General knowledge about your vehicle. Don't point to it and say 'that one' or anything. Know your engine type/size/vin designation, etc 2) get a part number either aftermarket (know the specific brand if you do that) or the OEM part number so they can cross reference it 3) the actual part itself. Otherwise, the only person to blame for not getting whatyou need is yourself.

When I ask for a new alternator, and not a remanufactured one that is what I should get. The guy behind the counter was just not paying attention and it resulted in me replacing my alternator twice in three days. The remnaufactured one had a bad voltage regulator. They had to order the new one yesterday and it will be in today.
