I just saw this article on the San Diego Union Tribune website & thought my fellow SoCal, particularly Dago, members of the CEG would be interested in reading it:

I for one am glad that the local authorities are doing something to put a stop to a highly illegal & equally dangerous activity.
On several prior occasions via this Forum I have expressed my personal outrage at those who believe street racing is a valid form of demonstrating one's prowess behind the wheel or relative performance attributes of an individual's vehicle.
Impromptu races, often referred to as stop light grand prix, are bad enough.
But organized street racing IMHO is akin to organized crime & those who engage in it should be punished severely & to the absolute fullest extent of the law.
The potential for death & destruction is far too great for the authorities to refrain from cracking down on the participants, nor do the latter have a shred of credibility in their attempts to condone or justify their participation in such activities.

Rant now off & I'll gladly absorb whatever abuse is directed at me for my admittedly unsympathetic opinion of street racers.
