That I'm happy about! PayPal money market gives much better interest than any other money market account and most CD's I can get at my bank, and it completely blows away my savings account, which is at a measly 0.50%.

Yes, that is a plus, that and the cash back on purchases. We have a supplier that we spend about 10-15K a month with, so 2% on purchases adds up real quick.

I use to wonder if their policies favored the buyer or the seller, but really they just favor PAYPAL. Whatever "resolution" is easiest for Paypal is the default one.
Their support is a joke. Even escalating to manager levels you still get the same runaround. And it doesn't matter how much business you send their way, because they feel you have no choice and they're entitled to your business regardless.

No sh!t, that worked early on till they started adding requirements for business accounts, registering checking accounts with them etc. Google will never takeover Paypal Status unless it becomes integrated with ebay, which will never happen
I went through so many stages with this one...frustration, anger, incredulity, then I finally gave up on it after a year. They actually sent me an email at the beginning saying I was ready to start collecting the referral %. But it never came, and looking into it, they'd always say "we need to check the referee's account, so they need to call in", at that point they'd say "we need to check the referer's acct...". Finally got to a 3-way call with both account owners and a Paypal manager..."your referral never verified".
I agree, even with Google's clout they won't knock Paypal out. No ebay integration, plus the restrictive integrations with your own website - they basically want to own the entire payment flow from customer account creation onward. But their rates are good (so was Paypal when it started) and they seem to be aggressive about buying up some market share (the 10 to 1 credit system from buying Adwords) and boosting their ad revenues.

Their whole address confirmation thing is stupid as hell. Even if you have a premier account, done many transactions in the past and never had any sort of claim (yours or against you) you still have to go through it every time you want to add/change an address. Apparently, they don't realize that not everybody lives in the same place all year 'round.

Lots of folks get suckered on those emals that ask questions about an item on ebay or a fake payment that was sent (which tricks you into logging into a false paypal)
Nah, I checked my yahoo account yesterday. I only check it occasionally and very rarely empty it cause there's so much crap in there and it takes so long. I have messages dating back to april...there's nothing on or about the date of july 2 (the date the payment was supposedly made), which is odd cause I know you do get receipts of payment from and transaction you make.
Looking at the details of the transaction in my paypak account, the only description is Yankees section 22 - which I assume are yankees tickets. I'm not even a yankee fan. If I knew the date of the game i'd gladly pay those seats a visit, but it must have passed already.

They probably would have scalped the tickets anyway. Just a thought though, are you getting emails from Paypal? Perhaps who ever broke into your account changed the email address and thats why you weren't getting notified? I would think they would send an email to your current address to let you know that your email had been changed, but who knows. I had someone break into my ebay acct and was getting hate messages from ebayer's that didn't get the products I wasn't selling I also had to change my paypoal passwords

my email on my paypal is the correct one, doesn't look like any info was changed.
i just got an email this morning saying that they investigated and found insuffient proof of unauthorized access and denied my claim. I haven't even filed the proper paperwork with them yet! I'm going to call them now.
edit: Looking at my ebay account i see unpaid item strikes for yankee tickets! WTF?!?!?!?!?

Sucks for me over here also...
Tried getting a new Debit card, but putting in my APO address (which is confirmed, btw), it tells me this:
You have an invalid address. Note that your address line cannot exceed 26 characters, your city line cannot exceed 18 characters, and you must enter a valid state. Please change it before proceeding.
Way to support us Paypal!
Guess I can't add my German address, either... weird.
Sent them emails regarding those subjects. I'm sure I'm going to get some copy/paste answer that says "you must have a confirmed address blah blah" or something.
Regarding the original subject, I changed and encourage all of you with Paypal to use a strong password:
More than 8-12 characters
Have at least 1 capital letter
Have at least 1 lower case letter
Have at least 1 number
Have at least 1 special character (~`!@#$%^&*()+=?/><,.)
This will make it EXTREMELY difficult for someone to guess or brute force (use a program) hack your password.
Password strengths on Wikipedia.
EDIT: oh, and of course, no matter how strong your password is, if you have a key logging spyware or virus program, they're gonna get in your account. Regularly run some sort of spyware scanner (Adaware, Spybot S&D, Windows Defender, etc) to make sure you're clean.
Oh, and NEVER, EVER put your account information into a page that you got to by clicking on a link on some page/email/IM.
ALWAYS type the site in yourself or follow a bookmark YOU made to the log in page.
I recently found this in an IM some girl on my Yahoo list sent out. She obviously has some sort of spyware on her computer since I got an IM saying "hey, check out my new pictures" and some page after that.
I clicked on it (I always dig pics of girls!), and it was an exact duplicate of an old Yahoo Photos log in page, but with the weird URL shown below. I reported it to Yahoo, and it's gone now, but ALWAYS be on the lookout.
http://www.my-photos-personals.8m.net/, which is obviously not a Yahoo page. Don't worry about clicking it, page is gone now.
