i had a dispute with a guy through paypal over a package lost in mail because he gave me the WRONG address to send it to. after 3 weeks, and paypal already forcing me to pay him back, i got the package in the mail and sent it to a different address that he gave me. 4 days later he sent me an email saying it got it. I tried with him and paypal to get the negative balance resolved but they were no help and i gave up. to this day my ebay id is locked into paypal and they are no help what-so-ever.

heh, the balance is $0.

But yeah, I got the runaround from them...and they denied all of my disputes within 24 hours. Even though the seller never provided any of the required information above - which is against their own terms of use!

I was really trying not to stress out over this, but the reality of losing $700 when times are already tight was freaking me out.

feel much better now though!

Just got an email from paypal today that my claim went through and they credited me $700 as well. Though, I don't know where it went as the card on the account has been killed by amex.

special thanks to everyone, especially knu!

Glad to hear it all worked out. I am very fond of Amex in their customer service and fraud aspects. A little over 10 years ago when my dad was dying of cancer we had some home health aides in to take care of him (he needed care 24/7 and we couldn't do it all ourselves). One of the aides took his Amex and charged about 600-700 with it. We didn't realize this until after my father had died (when the bill came) but not only did we not have to pay a cent (as we shouldn't have) but Amex took the steps needed to help prosecute the guy.

Didn't mean to threadjack, just wanted to let others know.
