Originally posted by MochaJunkie: I recently took my 98 contour in to have the timing belt replaced in February. The old one was fairly worn and the car had little acceleration. The shop replaced the idle pulley, tensioner, and belt. a couple hours later the died on the road. Snapped the timing belt. It has since done this three more times. It has shown no other signs of trouble (noise etc.) except for a stuttering while trying to accelerate right before the belt goes. I have been looking around and apparently this is not a common issue maybe it is just bad work. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer. This car has ran like a champ for me up until this point and still when it is not eating belts it runs quiet and smooth but seems slightly sluggish / lacking power (out of time).
I really. REALLY hope that you have a warrenty, and havent paid every time to have it replaced. when I had my tour they gave me an 12K/1 year warrenty on the parts and labor.
