Mine's a 98, yours is a 96. Being that was the first year for mandated OBD-II, there are likely more than a few changes in subsequent years.....
Look for the green EVAP service port near the coil. It should be on the line that comes out of the VMV which is mounted to the firewall. If no VMV, no EVAP monitor system.
