I remember back in the early 80's, the octane rating on most premium was 97. Then they dropped it to 95. The Fiat I was driving at the time had high compression pistons in it and it would run fine on 97 but knocked like a sonofa***** on the 95. Eventually blowing a hole through one of the pistons. A small change in octane can make a difference.
