Oops! I reread the post again, it appears the rearlamps are working. The surrounding of the oval reverse lights are reflectors and do not light up.
It looks like it may not be covered under the headlamp switch recall.

I'll try bypassing the illumination switch when I get a chance. Other than that, I have no idea what could be causing. When I get my new camera I'll take a shot of the gear that I found in my floorboard.. not sure where it came from
