Montoya has step down from Team McLaren efective today. He will have the rest of the year off and will join Nascar in 07. Kind of a shock cause one would this he will complete the season, man he musta left at bad terms  Pedro de la Rosa will take over for the remainder of the season.

they probably wanted an explanation for his horrible move on turn 1 of lap 1 at Indy, he got irritated, and they fired him. FIA probably had something to do with it too.
He had no seat for 07, so I'm not surprised he left early.

Short of Michael Schumacher joining Toyota at Daytona in 2007, the publicity for stock car racing, once considered home to bootleggers and rednecks, couldn't be much better.
Of course, Patrick may not make the jump, preferring another season of open-wheel racing and a chance to win the Indianapolis 500, where she placed eighth this year and fourth in 2005 as a rookie.
We'll see, but I predict now that Nascar is picking up steam lately that more and more drivers will be making the move over.
