So, I thought the charger was going to be the new police car?? I've noticed the local PD has got a fleet of the new 300hp V8 Impala's they're replacing the old 200hp ones with. Anyone else notice this?

There's a HEMI charger cop car in Albany. It's looks so pissed off, I hope we start employing them in this area. They kind of make me think of in the movies where the evil empire has the meanest looking vehicles. I guess they're testing it out for a while. I think cops prefer rwd v8s over front drivers.

Some departments are using Chargers, but they've still got a long time to go before they've got the proven reliability that the Crown Vic has. It'll never be as cheap to buy, cheap to repair, and have the ease of maintenance that the Crown Vic has though.
Maybe in a few years if the Charger demonstrates that it can perform up to the standard of the Crown Vic (and not ignite when hit from behind) it will be a viable option for departments. For now, most will stick with what has worked well for them the past 25 years.

I wonder if the light bar flies off when the roof peels off. Or if the light bar is actually holding the roof on.
