After the huge dissapointemnt at the SVTOA Orange County meeting. I did a little detective work and found that Galpin (Big suprise) is sponsoring the LA Chapter. I spoke to Steve McCord, he is head of SVT stuff over there. He sounds really supportive and excited about our SVT's joining up with them. They are having a huge get together on July 28th. We can expect to meet Steve Saleen (yes, the Saleen guy) and Reno Gamaro (hoped I spelled that right, president of SVTOA). SVT will be there with their trailer and he said he would ask Saleen to bring down the Saleen Contour for us. This is just what I was looking for. You can call Steve at Galpin in case you want more info or if you dont believe me. His direct number is 818-778-2037. This is going to be great!!!!!

Hi everyone, Thought that I would come visit you. I want you all to feel welcome to the SoCal Chapter of SVTOA! I feel you will like what we have in mind over the next year! If you like to 'Drive Fast and have FUN' then jump aboard. We are a driving club, Solo I & II events are being planned as I write and a 'Galpin Cup' series is planned for the coming season. We are in the process of planning a National On-Track Event at the Las Vegas Motorspeedway the weekend after SEMA, November 2nd,3rd,and 4th, with FOUR different driving events! I just got off the phone with California Speedway to set up some Solo I & II events, at their 'soon' to be finished 'Road Courses' [a 1.5 mile infield road course with 17 turns; a 2.88 mile, 21-turn auto competition which utilizes part of teh Speedway oval along the front straightaway]. Keep the 28th of July date open and come join in the 1st General membership meeting at Galpin Ford in North Hills, CA [off the 405 at Roscoe] in the Explorer Room, as stated before Steve Saleen with his race rig and the S7 LeMans car will be there. You can contact me at the following email address: tims@pfracing.com I know that you Contour guys are going to hammer the best times in the AutoX....until the SVT Focus comes out...hehe! Tim Schlose

Oh,
Also forgot to add, our Chapter has been in exsistance since January 2001, we have waited till July 28th to have a 'General Membership' meeting because we had to get the infra-structure inplace so you can have fun. We have a Board of Directors in place, are incorporated as a not for profit enity, have events planned, and are lookig forwad to some great times. If you want Car Shows and Pizza Hut meetings, thats not us...
Oh, also, I'm an 'old fart' by your standards, but I married a young women, does that count?....hehe

Very happy to have dicovered you guys, Tim. Why wasnt the LA Chapter listed on the SVTOA site? It could have saved us a 30 minute drive to Sunset Ford!

For the same reason that they keep dropping my name as a Director, not allowing me on to the web site....stupid slow site, IMHO. We are in the process of developing our own site and now that the foundation is down, we will be getting the news out in regards to the SoCal Chapter. But, none the less, we are working with the local SCCA for all of our AutoX, looking for 6 events for the 'Galpin Cup Series'. There will be a seperate class(s) for Contour's, let me know what you need!!!!! Any one who wants to help the BOD in a Committee position is welcomed with open arms, we have work to do but, the fun is worth it! Tim Schlose

Alex L., Our BOD has three members who live in Chino Hills, one that lives in South Orange County, two that live in Ventura County, and one that lives out by LAX and one that lives in Glendora, and one that lives in Cayon Country....so your point is, if you want we will start a kitty for 'gas $'....hehe. Fun is where you find it. As my father taught that if it is worth doing, do it! If you love driving .... Some of my Saleen buddies, and wives, drive down from the Bay Area for our events, knowing that the drive is worth it...come and judge for yourself, don't be closed minded. Tim Schlose

Are Cougar owners allowed to come hang out with you guys? I am really into my car, but there arent enough people in SoCal NECO that like to race and mod their Cougars. I already hang out with one SVT owner here in Palmdale and we have been to LACR a few times together. I've been once to Willow Springs to run my car there and will be back there next year a few times. It would be fun to just chill with you guys and what not....
