The standard straps suck and are uncomfy, as is the stock suspension. My last base was cool enough to get us upgraded suspension for our Army deployment, but the guys from Charleston got the suspension/padding/strap setup described above.
When the Army instructors were attempting to teach us how to be Soldiers, one of them was telling us of a strap/suspension setup that has speakers in it. The important Army guys get it for their radios or something, but they can be used for an mp3 player and what not. EDIT: according to the site in the first post, looks like he was talking about the MICH helmet)
Personally, the kevlar helmet is great for hands free (by wedging the cell phone up between my head and the helmet
