Something you could do is jack up the front and rotate the wheel. It should rotate freely. If it doesn't, then you know it is a brake rubbing on the rotor. Compare with the other side.

Have you checked the easy things yet? Checking if tire is rubbing on loose splash shield, pebble stuck in between threads on tire, inspecting the CV joint boot to see if it is cracked and leaking.
