I was driving down the road the otherday and noticed a little noise coming from what seems to be my drivers side front wheel. I wasn't sure, so I stopped and I didn't hear it anymore so I know its coming from a wheel, it just makes a little pft pft pft noise I'm just wondering if that could be my brake pad rubbing on my rotor or could it be something else?

Could be, sure.
Does the noise go away, or become louder upon straight acceleration?
"" "" during turning right?
"" "" during a left turn?
It could be a wheel bearing if its affected while turning, or a cv joint if affected while accelerating.
I would think it to be a wheel bearing, if nothing else. Let us know what affects it

Well I'm takin it out for a drive tomorrow so I'll be sure to listen in. I hope it's not the wheel bearing...the last owner payed $600 or so to fix something with the right side so I hope its nothing serious =/

EVEN if you bent over and took it without lube, you'd be looking at about 250 MAX for a wheel bearing and that would be high enough to warrant going postal, to me.
~60 for a bearing and one hour labor at a shop
or.. a NEW HUB and bearing already put together (avoids going to any shop) is 150-ish from out parts sources.
Stazi (ceg member) rebuilds hubs, too, if you can wait longer than a day to get it up and running, and would be in between the two I would imagine.
Which route you go depends on how much money you have, and how much time you want to spend on it. The condition of your hub (age and how long the bearing made noise before you replaced it) also come in to play deciding if you need JUST a bearing or a new hub.
The how-to for removal for this in under the duratec maintenance forum FAQ at the top of that forum.

Well went driving around the other day and its hard to say what causes it. Some times when I'm going really slow, I can hear it, some times I cant. I can sometimes hear it when I turn, left or right, speeding up, sometimes just cruising I can hear it. Its not loud at all but I can hear it sometimes when I stick my head out the window lol.
I'm not sure if it is the ball join and hub, I don't know a whole bunch about the car other then the basics so I wouldn't. I looked at the file the previous owner gave me when I purchased it and it says he got the Left* (which seems to be making noise) Hub and the Bearing replaced, at a place in Westland. Looks like he payed 73.70 for the bearing, 89.95 for the hub, some other crap...
I'm not sure what it is and I don't have the money to take it somewhere just to pay $50 to check it and then actually get it fixed. I'm 16...so obviously the money isnt there, is there any chance someone on here could help me out a little bit to see if I do need to replace the bearing/hub?

Something you could do is jack up the front and rotate the wheel. It should rotate freely. If it doesn't, then you know it is a brake rubbing on the rotor. Compare with the other side.
Have you checked the easy things yet? Checking if tire is rubbing on loose splash shield, pebble stuck in between threads on tire, inspecting the CV joint boot to see if it is cracked and leaking.

Thanks for that suggestion. I wasn't working till late this afternoon today so I jacked up my car for a bit. The wheel was rotating freely, but with a little bit of resistance in one part of the rotation. I think, it may be that either my rotor is warped, or that I dont have anymore pad on the front brakes which would explain why I can't stop quickly anymore, the previous owner who lived in westland took it to Westland Car Care Center and as I'm reading the recipt it says,
"Inspection found left front wheel bearing grinding also found front brake pads are 90% Worn and rotors are at discard spec. At this time customer only wants wheel bearing replaced and will hold off on brake repairs"
This was back in November 05' before I bought the car so I'm pretty sure the front brakes are shot and 'discard spec' rotors will mean I need new ones I guess. Its also the only wheel thats dirty on my car probably from the rubbing.
Ebay has OEM rotors (not buying the drilled pos ones) for like $140, does anyone know how much it would cost to install? Just a rough guess would help. Thanks guys

To install rotors???
you remove the wheel and slide it off, then slide the finished rtor on!! if you can take a tire off, you can change a rotor.

Ray, you missed the caliper step (in between the wheel and the rotor).
From 1996 Ford CD
Removal
1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove two bolts retaining front disc brake caliper anchor plate to front wheel knuckle.
4. Remove front disc brake caliper anchor plate and disc brake caliper as an assembly.
5. Support the front disc brake caliper/anchor plate assembly in such a manner as to not stretch the front brake hose.
6. Remove the front disc brake rotor.
Installation
1. Position front disc brake rotor on wheel hub.
2. Install disc brake caliper/front disc brake caliper anchor plate assembly. Tighten mounting bolts to 120 N-m (88 lb-ft).
3. Install wheel and tire assembly. Tighten lug nuts (1012) to 85 N-m (62 lb-ft).
4. Apply brake pedal several times to position caliper piston.
5. Lower vehicle.
And some good pictures by a CEGer (I wonder who that is ) in the Duratec Maintenance FAQ. Note that is for a wheel/knuckle bearing removal.

Blech. I was over simplified. my bad. Like Tony pointed out, yank the wheel, two 15mm bolts on the front calipers, support them somewhere and slide the rotor off.
If you can change your brakes, you can change the rotors.
better, Tony?
