Hot, humid and drizzling, but I went ahead and taped off my trunk into 3 sections:
1. hand polish
2. no polish
3. PC polish
No polish:
Comment: Nasty.
Polish by hand, foam pad, 3 applications, 10 minutes:
Comment: Not bad. Definitely improved
Polish by PC, 2 polish applications, 10 passes, 5 minutes
Comment: Wow. I didn't realize how much improvement I've been doing on customers' cars until I started doing these side-by-side comparisons.
As you can see, the optical clarity is quite dramatic when using a PC.
I'll be taking and posting swirl pics of the 3 sections tomorrow if the sun is out.

Porter Cable buffing machine tool not Personal Computer and speaking of tool Pete is a tool but I still like him because he is taller than me and wears funky clothes almost like a free spirit but not all earthy and hippy like a seventys porn star that is all about free love and peace and giving free love and getting free love and speaking of free love I am tired of paying for what should be free love.

Apparently it's monsoon season on the East coast. It's killing my detailing schedule.

And unfortunately getting far inferior results. I just checked the swirl levels under street lights in the rain and the hand polished section is a little better. The PC section is virtually swirl free.
Polishing by hand is good for paint in very good or better condition. Moderately swirled or worse and a PC/orbital is the only way to go.
