Fav, stop wasting your time. He has already read the thread 393,379,079 times and determined it is not a worn clutch.

It was at around 25psi, but my friend decided to crank it up to 70 with a refill bottle/gauge... I'm going to lower it (I haven't turned it on since then so it should be alright)

Is that 70 with the car off, sitting a while? If it was 70 while a/c is on, that would be too high.

70 with the car on, a/c running. I'll lower it to 25-30 before I turn it on again though. Do I just have to release the pressure from those same outlets?

If that's 70psi with the A/C actually compressing, that pressure is too high. The pressure should drop with compressor on, rise when it cuts out. The High pressure cutout may be happening. Yes, the refrigerant pressure will then have to be reduced, the "right way" is at an auto repair shop. Releasing refrigerant is actually illegal and a freeze hazard to your skin/eyes.
