nope, brakes wouldnt work without any pressure... I bet cha he has a blow brake cylinder in one of the drums... happened to me, I couldnt for the life of my find the leak, until I looked inside the backs of the rims under the car after letting it sit overnight, sure enough I found a cute little puddle of brake fluid in the rim, I never saw it because when I would drive off, the liquid would slowly drain off the rim as I drove, never showing itself.
