Bio. B20, B50, maybe even B100 if enough can be produced. Use ethanol as well as many more diesels and we can reduce the useage of fossil fuel supplies.

Not only does that happen in the long run, but also diesel emmissions are HORRIBLE. If you're ever stuck in Highway traffic around some trucks, you know what I mean. They're noisy, they're dirty, and they create SO MUCH CONGESTION around you. You speed up global warming that way, and the air gets dirtier.

Uhh, what? Get with the 2000's guy, that was 20 years ago. Believe it or not, they can make smaller diesels that can go in cars now. We aren't all going to be driving around in Peterbilts. And they have these things called scrubbers...

If you want my honest opinion, the world should get together to develop a Lithium Ion / Hydrogen / Synthetic Ethanol car. It's viable to produce ethanol from corn if for example you recreate the conditions and that could be done anywhere (Alaska, Antartica, the middle of the ocean on a boat, etc.) Have a completely new design of car that will have for example integrated solar panels on the body, wind generators or something extra to help charge a large battery, combine that with some sort of intense chemical reacting engine (uranium) and there's your super car that's cheap to run.

What?

You obviously know nothing about modern diesel engines then.

The only response I could come up to that guys post, is 'WTF'? In my Liberty, there is quite a difference when I run B20 or regular #2 diesel. With the bio, no smoke, with the #2 I smoke. Plus B20 is renewable.

See Al Gore's movie yet? Probably Mr. Global Warming.

Well, they all see it over here! You can get just about every Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep sold in the states with a diesel here... I see Dodge Caravans, Jeep Grand Cherokees, Jeep Cherokees, Jeep Wranglers, Chrysler Crossfires, and Chrysler 300Cs with either a "CRD" or "Turbo Diesel" badge on the back.

Now they also have the diesel Libertys, but that doesn't count since the US got the same thing. This didn't happen because of the merger, either... I've seen 2nd gen (early 90s) Caravans and 1st gen Grand Cherokees with a 2.5L diesel and a stick.

Ford and GM have different vehicles over here, with almost all getting a diesel as an option. GM imported the 1st/2nd gen Pontiac Trans Sport/Montana as an Opel or Chevrolet with a 2.2L gas I-4 and a 5 speed.

Guess it's just the people that run the place think ALL Americans hate diesels because of the GM diesels from the 70s/early 80s... I know there's quite a few <30 year old Americans that wouldn't remember them.

Exactly what I was going to bring up!

I've been in a few traffic jams here with diesel cars all around me... you can barely smell them at all! (note that my a/c doesn't work, so it's windows down for me in mid-day jams).

-------------

Just a little bit of info... I think they'll play the "bigger" game if they switched to diesels and cut the economy way down. Like take for instance the new trucks we got at my shop... 2006 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.6L Duramax and Allison 6 speed autos.

Thing makes 360hp and 650lb/ft of torque... but gets an average of 13.5mpg. Now there isn't much of an economy difference unless your original plans were to buy an 8.1L gas that gets 8.9mpg!

Now imagine everybody back on the SUV craze since they're "more economical" after all of them got a diesel... that only gets 13mpg... oops, back in the same boat we were in before!

Man those vans had to really suck to drive! They were slow with the V6's!

I definitely do not remember them (i'm 25) and would be interested in owning a diesel if they came in a vehicle I would actually want to own!
