This isn't a diesel hybrid, but it's a 128 mpg diesel you can build yourself. (look through all the plans. Cool stuff. I bought the Tri-Magnum plans back in '84 when I was 12! Still have the plans, and one day I WILL build it!)

The XR3 WILL be a diesel/electric hybrid you can build. He's estimating up to 125 mpg on straight diesel, and up to 225 mpg as a hybrid. I'm sure I'll be ordering a set of these plans once they're ready.
