Hi there,
This morning when I started the Tour there was a whining noise coming from the engine. When revved between 1000 and 2000 RPM the noise got louder and disappered when over 2000 RPM. Somebody told me that it might be the bearing in the alternator.
Anyone have any other ideas?

I'm getting the same sound. I'm posativer it is my alternator starting to go. The battery light flashing once I hit 6,000rpm also might be a safe assumption that it my problem  . Aaron

I totally forgot about that. A while ago i got the battery light when i put it above 6000 RPM, sounds like its the same problem.

I remember a while back when I reved the engine high the Battery light came on for a second.. a year later .. new alternator  Just watch out if your on the highway and your lights start diming..

I got my eye glued to the volt meter gauge as well.

Same thing here, I have a feeling my alternator suffers from physical damage. gotta snap a pic of the housing, which I think is cracked!
