that was the plan, I tried my damndest to find out how many cells where in the stock battery, nowhere said, the gateway website didnt say, they didnt say at best buy, nothing. I looked on bestbuy.com and they sold a battery for $100 and its a 6 cell, they claim up to 3.5 hours of battery life, but it looks exactly the same as the one that comes with the laptop... It makes me want to buy one of those external power packs to keep in my laptop bag, I mean I probably would get one anyways, but for a just in case kind of thing.
