.........did we set up the preloads correctly on the new diff bearings or just 'throw it in' as the masses advise?
FWIW over the past few months I've had many DIY diff's / MTX's arrive at the shop.One...had a loose crown wheel bolt that had fallen out and punched thru the trans case(new cases!),another did not have the bearings set...to the point it had NO shims in them at all and flopped around like a d**k in a bucket,that needed a new crown wheel and output shaft assy/pinion because the 'rocking' had chipped the gears....the third was just loose and noisy.....yeh....just 'drop it in'....muppets!!!! In most of these cases the diffs were sent away for check at Quaife to clean ,check and remove debris etc.Don't forget the warranty is VOID if the unit is incorrectly set up.......
