It's better to ignore a situation unless you have to defend your life. Hiring a lawyer is expensive and you never know what the legal system will decide.
I have no trespassing signs posted and a gate across my long driveway. People still wake me up in the middle of the night ready to fight because they wrecked their car and they are drunk. The judge says trespassing is only a misdemeanor. Iâ??ve came close to shooting a drunk when they tried to force their way into my home.
The other night I thought I was imagining things when I heard someone yell â??Hay strangerâ? at 2am. My 2 dogs that I keep inside at night started barking so I let them out to look around.

You did the right thing good job. I know I would have done something stupid if it was me. Hell I once punched a 17 year old when he decided it would be cool to walk up and kick my car. This was a few years ago I was 19 at the time.

Garbage like that would anger me, but not enough to want to escalate the situation.
Now once I was in the car with my late dad, some kid (probably 16) in a car with no plates came over the hill juyst after we turned on the road. They pulled up alongside and said something along the lines of "learn to (expletive) drive, old man!" and drove on. My dad got real nervous from the way I said, very calmly "let's see if we can catch up to them at the next stop."
For some reason, if it's against me, I am fine,a nd it doesn't bug me. If someone did something against my dad (he was 80 at the time), call Michael Buffer to say "lllllllllets get ready to rumblllllllllle!"
Long story short, you made the right decision.

I would've thrown my ice-cream through their window and then driven off.
