I think you probably did the right thing.
You might have followed them a little while you were on the phone with the Police reporting a possible DUI... If one had been drinking, then they all probably were. If nothing else they might have been pulled over and harrassed a little.

Did the right thing. Doesn't make you feel any better in the long run. It's one of those situations where every once and a while you wished you had pulled the kid out and let him have it. Going to court and having a record is not cool though. I would have at least got the plate and made a report even though no damage was done.

I would have takent he plate # and called it in saying that you thought the driver was drunk. Then at least one of the little bastids would get a minor!
Instinctively, I would have done what Mark said but following them could cause them to try and ditch you, potentially causing an accident.
