i've been playing the guitar for about 9-10 years and I rarely look at the fretboard anymore, even when i'm doing lead or shredding so I'm guessing that it's not very uncommon for a blind person to be playing the guitar.
It would be pretty impressive if it was a deaf person playing the guitar.
