You can also see in the vid that, when they wanted to, the Vette's pulled away hard. Just look at 3:40 to 4:00. He was on that Vette's ass in the turns and then 'Vette took off and left him in the dust, he got 20 car lengths ahead in 10 seconds. At 4:23 that same 'Vette clearly didn't accelerate like he had the last time and allowed the Evo a left pass. He wasn't racing, he was following the rules.
Come on, this is basic physics here. Those Corvettes are doing more power to the wheels (the C6s and ~the same if they're C5s) and weigh at least 100lbs less. That track-prepped one is probably doing 50+whp more and likely weighs a few hundred pounds less.
Open track days are a poor measure of performance comparison. I've got videos of stock RX-8s literally stomping the hell out of M5s, Porsches, Vipers, Corvettes, and Ferraris on track days. Just running circles around them, wave-by after wave-by after wave-by. Does that mean the RX-8 is better than all of them?
330 whp on the Evo will get the car into 11 sec quarter. A Vette with 50 more HP is not going to beat an Evo.
Until you drive an Evo you will not understand. Trying to explain it to you would be pointless.
Of course in a 1/4-mile the same power will yield you a better time in an Evo. And of course from a standing start an extra 50whp probably won't help the 'Vette win. More power on the 'Vette just means more spinning tires at the start while the EVO takes off. The AWD gives you a superb launch and that's what a 1/4-mile is all about. That video isn't of the drag strip though it's of a road course. And different rules apply.
And I've driven plenty of EVOs on and off the track. In fact I would bet money that I've got more track time in an EVO than you do. It's clear that you don't understand how track days work. And apparently a mediocre understanding of basic physics and mechanics too. Please, Mr. Smartass, explain to me how the AWD which allows an EVO to run 11s benefits it in the straights from a roll where it's already going 60mph?
I notice you made no attempt at explaining why the Corvette completely obliterated the EVO coming out of the turn and on the straight from 3:40 to 4:00. Come back when you want to actually have an intelligent discussion on the merits of particular cars and maybe a little track time under your belt would help too.
PS: You should see my video of a stock RX-8 r0xx0ring a Porsche 911 Turbo. Stupid Porsche owners. Everyone knows the RX-8 is the better car. I've got it on video so it must be true.

i didn't watch this vid, cause i'm lazy and don't care about chevy's or imports, but by this statement, it sounds like the evo did a "ricer flyby", which wouldn't suprise me.
Your a freaking Moron.....
that's funny coming from someone who cannot figure out the proper usage of your and you're.
i also am not impressed with this vid. i see an evo racing against a bunch of vettes that are letting it by.
but, we have to take into account hectors idea of racing. this is the same guy who claims to have raced and beat a c6 zo6 with his 14 second evo. (c6 zo6's trap 127 in the quarter)
02 Mustang GT... Tuned by Nelsons. Low 12's, anyone?

Talk is cheap over the internet. I can say I have driven this car, driven that car.....but OBVIOUSLY you haven't driven an Evo. If you did you'd understand the gearing difference between the Evo and the Vette makes a BIG difference when it comes to acceleration. My supposed slow Evo has out-accelerated more than one Vette from 1st-4th gear. The power and torque on the Vette really come into play above that, and I will be the first to admit that, but no street racing stories here. I personally like the typical "American thinking" going on in this thread. I know it is hard to comprehend a 4 cylinder sedan outperforming a big v8 "supercar"

Did you read a single thing sigma wrote?! American thinking...right. When did you start turning japanese?!
You really haven't grown into the car you have purchased, or well you are just a ricer with a faster car now. Your posts about racing are based on your personal experiences and nothing outside of that. IMHO...you are the one thinking like a typical AMERICAN!
And my slow contour has kept up with some pretty fast cars and it dyno'd poopy!

All this coming from the one who at EVERY opportunity bashed DSMs.
I am the ricer? I don't drive around a hackjob like your car, so give me a break.
I base all of my conclusions on real life....not what someone says online, a magazine, etc. Like I said before talk is cheap.

Um, where did I say the Evo wasn't a kickass car or that it couldn't beat a Corvette? If I didn't love to drive the thing I wouldn't be getting my buddies to let me track it when we head over to Motorsport Ranch.
What I took exception to was your interpretation of what was happening in the video. You clearly have no clue how track events work.
Yes, the EVO decimates the Corvette in the turns. Always has and always will. And will give most of them a run for their money in the straights too.
But what happens when there's a car on the field that turns better than everyone else? Other drivers are required to let said car pass on the straights. Whether they could out-accelerate it in the straights or not doesn't matter, they have to let him pass if they want to keep on the field and not get called off for obstructing traffic. You come out of the turn, you wave the car past, do not accelerate (or accelerate very little), and move out of the optimal line.
So what you have here is not a video of an Evo passing a bunch of Corvettes like you claim, but a video of an Evo being waved by a bunch of Corvettes most of which aren't the best drivers (that black one wasn't taking the greatest of lines).
They weren't racing when he went by, they're not allowed to. They have to wave him by, maintain their speed, and take the crappy line. The exception is that one point in the clip, where the 'Vette decides not to let him pass, dusts the Evo out of the turn, and shows what he could really do if he wasn't following the rules. On the next lap the 'Vette does what he's supposed to do and lets the Evo by, and you call it "passing a track-prepped 'Vette in the straights" ignoring the fact that that same 'Vette just demonstrated the ability to dust that Evo on the same portion of track.
That's not to say that the Evo couldn't pass them if they all really were racing. It would certainly pass most of that field at the very least because the Evo driver was clearly superior to all the other drivers except the one driving Black/Yellow track-prepped 'Vette. But it wouldn't have blown by them like it had because they waved him past. It would have been a back and forth race, particularly with that one 'Vette which clearly dominate in the straights.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! You take out a loan for a car and all of a sudden your better than everyone? WOW!!!!!
No wonder why you and Roger Jerk each other off every chance you get. I don't know if you know this hactour but DemonSVT ran a 13.5(with a slow FWD contour) and your amazing superfly EVO ran a 14.01 soo STFU!

I love the Evo and still laugh at all this sillyness.
