Where is the best place to buy some replacement molded carpet for a 2000 Contour? I have found a couple of places but I am worried about it fitting correctly.

I got fresh carpet for my first Contour from a similar place that supposedly made molds from the floorpans of the actual vehicles. Still wasn't quite right as the mold had a HUGE center hump and the fit was terrible. I was forced to use lots adhesive & EXTRA padding to make up the difference & deaden sound (which worked out VERY well actually). I had to cut in all my own holes & chiz for all the stuffs like e-brake, shifter, dash supports on the center hump, seats, etc. If you don't get those just right, you've ruined your carpet. Fortunately, I could forsee the problems, just slit holes in the central locations, and cut out the appropriate holes AFTER the carpet was set in place & ready for glue. Sorta like a full blown test fit with trim pieces in place & everything.

Wasn't worth it. If I had it to do all over again, I'd likely get factory new from Bill Jenkins.

That sucks on the install, Jim. I have a slightly waterlogged/stained/destroyed/upside down carpet thingy in my SVT parts car. Free to local pick up.

Most of the aftermarket carpets I have seen are made by Auto Custom Carpets http://www.accmats.com/. Both of the links you list appear to be selling the ACC parts.

I put one in my car a couple years back. It is a real pain in the ass to install, but it fit ok for me. You do have to cut any necessary holes as well as trim the carpet along the edges. You definitely want to take your time to get it right.

Loads easier to install an OEM carpet, if you can get one.

I also did this - I changed the tan carpet to black in my '95 SE. salsesco.com is where I got mine - cheap, and a great fit believe it or not. Time consuming, yes - worth it, yes. carpet changes the entire look in the car when it is nice and new :-). I had to cut the holes too.

Bill's a great guy, but he can't control what kind of crap Ford puts out as "OEM Replacement."

I replaced my floormats with OEM, (from Bill) and they suck. Ford changed the mats from rubber to some kind of cheap, stiff plastic that won't lay flat, and they aren't even as big as the originals.

With carpet, I'll take my chances on aftermarket before I get suckered in by "OEM" again.

Those floor mats are accessory items & the manufacturer & style is subject to change as Ford changes vendors. The original carpeting should be actual OEM part, not an accessory replacement/substitute. It has been my recent experience that the super-duper mats go into the new car, & the replacement mats are more like aftermarket accessory junk - sorta one size fits 3 platforms with the low bidder offering marginal quality getting the contract kinda stuff. Sucks.

Yes it was Bill priced replacement carpet for me at $500.00!!! I will take my chance 2 or 3 times with aftermarket first.

I got mine from http://www.1aauto.com/
The quality is pretty good. Yeah you have to cut holes and whatnot, but it's really not hard to do. Use the stock carpet sort of as a template and go from there to get exact.
