MIG can weld stainless. Not as nice as tig, but it can weld it.

Either you can weld it normally with mig or flux, but the weld won't be stainless and would rust (more of an issue with exhaust).

MIG it with stainless wire and a tri-mix of gas.

MIG it with a stainless fluxcore and a tri-mix (normal gas may work to, can't remember).

He's right just call B&M,they are very proud of the fact that they make a quality shifter.They probably won't give you to much of a hassle.The only time they are really adiment about abuse is when it involves their transmissions and torque converters,etc.

got it tig welded today and it is great looks better than factory. i would reccommend anyone that buys a short throw to get that reinforced before installation
