I already said above that I wasn't going to even consider that one anymore, so why go on about it. I was just asking opinions on the deal to see if it was as sh!tty as I thought, and it is. I wasn't misleading myself. I liked the car though, but I don't mind having my van at all. I love the thing.
What I really love is the idiots who think all minivans are slow, and they get pi$$ed when I take off on them. LOL

There are things called used cars. You can get a low mileage Sable or Taurus that is bigger than the Fusion and also very capable if not more so. You can get a very low mileage demo for 12k. The gas mileage between the 2 is what a few hundred bucks a year? Big deal.

Then slap your husband upside the head for being so short-sighted.

You would be lucky to save $50/month on gas. Buying a new car right now is going to cost you more than $15,000 over keeping the one you've got. You cannot offset the gas price increases by buying a new car. You're going to spend $200/month to save $50. It's stupid. Plain and simple.

Over the course of your 6-year note, if you went from 20mpg to 27mpg, you would save $3500 @ $3/gallon -- that's just half of what your down payment was, and a teeny-tiny fraction of the $44,000 that Fusion is going to cost you.

Gasoline would have to be almost $20/Gallon before it would make financial sense for you to trade in that Minivan with you being so upside-down on it. $20. Twenty Dollars a gallon. And that's just to cover the difference between what that Fusion costs and what you'll actually pay for it. That doesn't help pay for the car itself at all.

If your husband is so worried about saving money on gas, your vehicle situation obviously does not make any financial sense by buying a new vehicle.

I'm willing to bet there are other areas of your lives where you could cut costs in order to make up for gas prices.

When in the [censored] did $50 or $60 extra a month break the bank in a household?

I'd suggest YOU help in this situation by getting a part time job in the evening or weekends.
