The current models are pretty aerodynamic (you think they can go 200mph with just pure luck?). They're going to a less aerodynamic design to improve the racing on short tracks and hopefully remove most restrictor plate racing. But regardless of how aerodynamic they are, they still have adjustable downforce and it does make a difference in the racing, just as it does with any other form of racing. And pit strategy is HUGE in NASCAR.

So...they want to make cars LESS aerodynamic? They want to take 25 years of aerodynamic advancement and throw it out??? Their "Car of Tomorrow" is really a car of 25 effing years ago! That is rediculous!

I see a lower percentage than other sports where people are passionate about the actual sport, versus passionate fans of their particular driver. This is a shame, as it could be the catalyst of a new generation of people truly passionate about cars.
You're kidding right?
NASCAR has MANY lower classes that are held at smaller tracks. The even smaller tracks scattered across the country are the stepping stone to NASCAR.
And NASCAR gets many people into cars and many more into working on them (even have their own school for it). It may not seem like it really gets people into motorsports because it's sorta like how people are into football. So many people are into it but have nothing to do with playing or working for the teams. I'm guessing NASCAR probably gets more people into motorsports than other kinds of races because it is a more common event and is easier to get into than say F1 or WRC. Not to mention that the people that are into the other kinds of racing are probably already some sort of 'car guy'.
The local track, 8 miles from my house is owned/operated by the Blaney family for the past, maybe, 5 years. They've raced there while growing up & now Dave is a NASCAR driver...not a spectacular one, I know. The track is supported by NASCAR, with visits from drivers, give-a-ways, promos, etc.

Actually most people consider aerodynamics to be one of the wrost revelations for race cars... remove aerodynamics and insane downforce and you lessen the effects of wind buffeting of other cars and crap and make passing easier and also keep speeds lower. They keep doing the same thing in F1 because nobody can pass in dirty air.

Yeah but if you watch the racing, you would know why. The CoT will make the racing more interesting. You know, there are legend cars, etc. that race and aren't the most technology advance things. If everything was about being the most technology advanced every form of racing would look the same and the cost would be extremely high, that's not what NASCAR is about.

Im sure it has nothing to do with the fact of the higher speeds. Or they have get this 90-270degree turns. turning left and scraping the wall totally different
