I have never applied at a UPS, and even white collar professional jobs have asked to explain breaks in employment.

Nice. My kid works at UPS in CT. She does will calls and hold for pick ups. It's kind of nice when I have to send her a package, I send it "hold for pick up" so when she gets to work her package is waiting for her.
She likes it, the people are nice.
where in ct? sounds like she is a cust counter clerk. i'm at the watertown facility

i doubt that. we look for casual drivers which are basically temp drivers for the summer and some in winter. the clean license for 2 years and 75lb lift requirement sound like the temp casual driver. even to go from this to a permanent driver would take a few years. so you would need a schedule where u can get another job for 6-8 months of the year while you not driving. pay is about 14.xx. when u become a permanent driver u start around 18.xx iirc then move up to full rate of like 24.xx within maybe year and a half. its fairly quick to reach top rate. most drivers will average 50k. 60k is doable. to hit 70k+ you'll need a route with LOTS of overtime and usually they try to curb this. but some routes are prone to overtime and r usually bid on and taken by top seniority guys.
you also need to drive a stick and are drug tested for the dot physicals every 2 years and anytime you may be suspect to drug use. we just dismissed a driver for this. failed the test, went thru rehab, periodic tests over a year were clean, then failed one and he's gone.

I had a 84 pound package delivered by UPS last week. It was a huge box and it was lightly sealed. The UPS driver tilted and walked the box on it's end to unload it. I don't see how that box was delivered in such good condition.
My small boxes are usually crunched but they have bubble wrap and foam peanuts so the item is always OK.
My sister's daughter's husband quit his UPS job for a higher paying job in Atlanta. He didn't like the UPS job.
