My Mom has it and its pretty darn cheap. $50 for local and unlimited long distance service. Includes your telephone line + call wait + caller ID + all long distance 24/7/365.
Call go off a repeater like cell calls so thye are not always the most crisp, but for a flat $50 how can you complain.
Not sure if DSL will work with it tho 
i already have a cell phone silly man! i get unlimited long distance, just sometimes i don't like to use the cancer causing cellphone for long distance calls
