In fact, I consider a moderate tint (30% or so) to be a safety feature in reducing glare, with minimal impact to night vision.
If only we could choose our own laws. What you say would be valid.
Laws aren't based on the people who customize a vehicle, there based to protect, some are out of date, some need revising. They'll do it when THEY want to not us.
Also i think color of your car has a lot to do with it and keeping your sunroof cover open.
For instance one of my friends has a white civic, has gotten pulled over twice for tint, another friend has a white cherokee, been pulled over once, I have a black svt and always keep the sunroof cover open, never been pulled over. All have 20% tint in Ohio. Bright colors make tint look darker.
