sounds like the person who said that your socket was stripped was right.. either that, or your mechanic needs to learn the "Righty tighty, lefty loosey" rule.... You may want to check to see if he screwed in the bloddy thing next time....
Personally, I'd put a clean finger into the hole that the spark plug goes into, and see if there are any threads there for the plug to grab onto... or use silly puddy to make an impression....
