Overall there is no way to contain this drug from affecting others.
No way for this drug to be legalized.

Well, if it were legalized like alcohol where you could only use it in a bar, or designated spot - or in your house...then why would anyone who was allergic or on meds be affected?? Just don't go to the smoking bar!

You can't have the the rules that alcohol has. I wish it could be that easy. There has to be a set of specific rules.
You guys should make a set of rules that would protect those who smoke and others who don't want to be affected by it.

I am really interested to see what you guys can come up with.

I fail to see why we can't have the same rules as alcohol, if they are simply NEW rules that are pretty much a carbon copy, only "marijuana" is replacing "alcohol". give me a reason why it can't be that easy?

IMHO, the driving issue will be the big one. Not that more people will drive high, but how can you tell WHEN they smoked, an hour ago or a week ago?

If you could only smoke marijuana in your house, or in a bar DESIGNATED for marijuana smoking, then how exactly would it affect other people!?

As far as the driving thing...well, what do they do in amsterdam? There are precedents that have already been set.

I personally do not like to smoke. I haven't in months, and I only do so because of the peer pressure (dumb i know). After I do it most of the time results in a cold sweat, then the room spinning out of control , than the climactic conclusion, tossing my cookies.

And personally I hate the smell. My friends, smokers or not, somehow enjoy the skunky smell. But after this I still understand and agree with legalization. Not in or around public places (unless its a designated bar or building). In your car/house/property are all good places

Nope, but I can tell you there's enough money being made off of cigs that there are thousands of well-connected lobbyists who'd love to head that off and billions of dollars in PACs that would instantly dry up at the mere mention of "getting people to stop smoking". "So you want to get people to stop smoking?? Hey states, tax the s**t out of them (wink, wink... nudge nudge)... surely people will balk at $6 per pack. That'll get them to stop... See, Citizens for a Better America?? We're really taking the bull by the horns here. We say SMOKING STINKS!!"

Just wait till you seee in a couple years the goverments new fat tax(fast food tax will be on every fast food including soft drinks). It will take the place of cigarette tax. If you search you will find cities are all ready enforcing it. This past year they grossed an annual 500 bilions dollars. Seems to be taking the place already you think?

I know all about the "fat tax". But don't kid yourself, it's not "replacing" a cigarette tax. It's an additional tax. The government makes FAR too much money on cigarettes to ever make an effort to get people to stop. They'll do the "it causes cancer and deformed fetuses and impotence and yellow teeth and thin wallets and emphysema and black plague" song and dance all day long because it appeases enough people. Find me a person who fires up a cig, reads the Surgeon General warning on the side and says to themselves, "Huh... never knew 'bout that. Into the trash you go, vile sticks!!" Not happening. Lip service and nothing else.

Now... having said that: There's a tasty Camel Light calling my name. Be right back.

Its not replacing it, but it could. Also the state is rasing the taxes. The goverment is making companies have a higher tax deductable to counter wieght the decrease in sales because of states increasing the tax. Trust me i am not kidding myself. Cigarettes will become less common in 10 years. It will be down to the commited smokers only still having them. The new generation is less likely to carry the smoking fasination like we did.

Lets be real ur line of who looks at the box and decides to quit. You never know. did some one. probably not. And you know why its there. Becuase they have too lol. So leave that silly label out of this. Unless you want to talk about this petty thing compared to this petty thing.

You stated the most common heard phrase
"Do you know how much money goverment gets from cigarettes."

Not state but goverment. Please give me an honest quote?? How much ot the tax is the goverments tax?

Exactly. The states raise the taxes because they make money off of it. IIRC from an article I read somewhere last last year, federal, state and local governments already take about a 50% cut from the cost of an average pack of smokes. There's no way they'll willingly let something dry up. Is it decreasing? Sure, as less young people smoke. So then the excise taxes go up... taxes go up, cigarette smuggling starts... law enforcement agencies start going after them... why? Because their money supply is drying up. They're more worried with people buying smokes online than they are trying to get people to quit.

The label comment was put in there to show you the "grand" lengths that our government is going to get people to quit smoking. I know it's a crock of s**t... you know it's a crock of s**t... no argument here.

Honestly, if doesn't matter. Congress is made up of State Representatives. They'll never let it fly. Government is government, IMO. State, federal, local... they've all got their hand in your pocket. Plus, let's just say for the sake of argument that the feds get, oh, an average of 10 cents per pack. Not inconceivable as you figure many states are pulling over 75 cents per pack.

I have no problem with marijuana legalization. Treat it like alcohol... drive drunk and get caught, go to jail. Drive stoned and drive drunk, go to jail. 18 to smoke, designated bars... it could be done.

It can not be like alcohol. Good thing none of you are doing anything about this. Other than chating about this being legalised.

Please give more detail about how this can and will be used.
