I think it finally happened!!! Today I installed Windows Vista on my new Dell Inspiron E1505 (6400) WAN doesn't work... I goto Support.dell.com... What do I find? I shall show. Drivers for E1505 Quote:
You Are Searching For Inspiron 6400/E1505 / Apple Mac OS / English
Now... There arn't any listed, but the assumption of Mac OS listed there tells me Mac OS might become compatible wtih these things soon?
If this happens, Microsoft is going to be screwed because VISTA SUCKS!!!!
I can see it happening too, the Dell I own is the Intel Core Duo, Macs use that... Im looking around for articles saying Mac OS will be on PC's soon... I'd love that! Imagine the possibilities! Vista is just a hellhole and took about 3 hours to install on a NEW Dell Inspiron E1505 w/ Core Duo @ 1.66 GHz and 1024 MB RAM.

Meh... Vista already loads on the Macbook. I'd say that there are more folks wanting to run Windows on Apple gear than general x86 folks wanting OSX.

There are iso's of osx that will run on intel chips...but supposedly Apple has no intention of selling osx for any computer other than a "mac," even though they've switched to intel chips. Which i think is retarded, but what do i know anyway?
Maybe it's good if there aren't too many hardware variables...i mean just look at windows when it comes to driver issues, etc.

Hardware variables is one thing. However, I believe Apple has no intention of reliving its past -- in the mid 1990s, they allowed Motorola and other manufacturers to make Macintosh clones. These clones were far cheaper than anything Apple could produce and consequently killed business for Apple machines (which at the time were its primary means for revenue). Granted nowadays they're a whole lot more competitive in prices; however, if you could buy a new G5 clone for $1200 versus an Apple Power Mac G5 for $1999 (base price), which would you do?
I personally am not a huge fan of the current PowerBook line - give me a flat black plastic Thinkpad with OSX any day. (The new black Macbook has changed this opinion somewhat and I do intend to get one in the future to replace my G4 PowerBook, but it's still a glossy Apple design with inevitable problems down the road if it's actually transported anywhere often.)

FWIW - this news is all over the Internet. (just searched it via Google)
link
Looks like it might be a prank or something .. though people have gotten OSX to run on certain Dell laptops, the files in that support box don't look like they're designed for OSX at all (some of them are even .EXE's!).

OS X86 project Originally posted by OSX86 HomePage: Dell Adds 'Apple OS X' Driver Download Section Written by sHARD Tuesday, 30 May 2006 A joke, a mistake, or a sign of things to come? Engadget is reporting that Dell has now added an 'Apple OS X' OS option to many of their machines' driver download pages. While Dell has previously expressed interest in OS X on their machines, the actions of Steve Jobs indicate such a move is unlikely. Shifting us futher into hoax territory, we find that all of the downloads present for 'OS X' aren't actually compatable with the operating system. Dell currently offers OS X drivers for their printers, and in all likelyhood they have simply made a mistake while making site adjustments. But we can dream, can't we?

Damn damn damn... I was hoping it was true, but figured it wouldn't happen. OSX is a solid platform and I really honestly can not stand Vista. I've stood by Windows from Win3.11 to Win ME then to XP. I loved XP. But Vista is like the evil sibling that causes doom! I found good in WinME, everyone I've talked to hated ME, I find some good in it. Vista, I can't find anything good in it. It's a huge resource hog, my notebook HDD light is always flashing, it's slow, I feel like I put my PC on a 486. Now a Unix-based Mac OS X standard gives room for huge expansion. They made it easy to use, and room to expand, however looks like they are going to keep it within the Macs. However, if everyone keeps getting a bootleg copy of Mac OS for their PC's, Steve Jobs isn't going to make any money that way either

I have installed OSX on my PC. There are no drivers for my video card, nor anything else. I am sure someone will make some, but right now OSX only supports certain setups that will be used when Apple releases their new computers built with X86 stuff.
