We here in Pittsburgh have been screaming about this since we signed him. I'll bet Bill Cower personaly smashes that bike w/ a sledgehammer.
Sidenote: Ben, WEAR A DAMN HELMET! We've waited too long for a superbowl to have you go out like that.

BTW, I heard the driver had Maine plates, probably a Pats fan.

Hey, Big Ben: Ever hear of Kellen Winslow?

And wasn't there a guy 1 or 2 years ago who messed himself up badly endangering his NBA hopes, with a motorcycle? And Aaron Rowand, now with the Phillies, cost himself a year of major league baseball from going over his handlebars on a mountain bike or dirt bike about 3 years ago.

This is not a new topic, so Big Ben has NO excuse for risking the welfare of his teammates like that. If Cowher does not slug him, his teammates and agent should.

Who said football players were smart?

I disagree. He can quit playing football whenever he wants. If he wants to ride a motorcycle and risk his life, and/or his career, that's his choice! If he dies and leaves his team without a quarterback, then they'll have to find a new one. Ricky Williams up and left the Miami Dolphins. Ben could walk away from football if he chooses to, and an accident is no different.

I concur.

Does your employer tell you what you can and can't do outside of work?

Except football players are under contract. Most of us work "at will."

It would not shock me to learn these contracts have clauses that require the player to meet certain physical conditions, protect themselves, etc.

A stunt such as this could get a lesser player cut and breach of contract cited as the reason.

I read on another board that the no helmet issue was ok'd in his contract. Not sure on the truth in that.

It still ticks me off. You'd think he'd know better. I don't realy care how it affects the team. My beef is more with him just being stubborn and stupid.
